You can use the following instructions for 13″, 15″, 17″ unibody MBPs.

When you remove the bottom cover you can access and clean up the cooling fan but the heat sink is mounted on the other side of the motherboard. In order to replace thermal grease the motherboard has to be removed.

Replacing MacBook Air keyboard after liquid damage

In this post I will guide you through the keyboard replacement procedure on a liquid damaged 11″ or 13″  MacBook Air.

In my case a little bit of water was spilled on the lower right corner. After that some of the keys stopped working but the rest of the laptop worked just fine. I was able to use it with an external USB keyboard.

How to access files on failed MacBook Air

In this guide I explain how to access and recover files from a failed MacBook Air, assuming it’s not the hard drive or solid state drive (SSD) related failure.

Let’s say the laptop suffered from liquid spill, was dropped or just stopped working but you don’t have your files backed up.

MacBook Air  (Late 2008 and Mid 2009)

These models came equipped with a 1.8″ 120GB SATA HDD or 128GB SSD with a 24 pin ZIF connector.

For the following procedure you will need a small Phillips screwdriver (size #0).

STEP 1.

Remove 10 screws securing the laptop bottom cover. Remove the cover.

The hard drive located on the left side from the fan.
